Remember I mention that I was invited over to see for myself the Kay Unger New York and Phoebe couture Spring 2013 collection at Neiman's? It was a fun experience especially meeting their evening wear head designer Christy Carlisle Smith.
Christy is so sweet and nice, a true southern girl at heart being from Alabama and now living in New York and work for Kay Unger design house for 9 years. She took time before the presentation to give me a tour about the latest collection and explain all the process in designing and hard work that involves creating the lovely pieces shown.
This is one of the dress that caught my eye. My picture does not even do justice of how the dress was nicely made and the fabric, silhoutte and prints are gorgeous in person. It has a vintage vibe but with a modern twist.
Her dresses are totally wearable and can easily be incorporated in anyone's wardrobe. The great thing is learning their attention to details and fit. Being petite that is very important. Kudos to Christy for thinking about us petites being petite herself. They take into account that not all women have the same body type. They design different silhouettes that are flattering on all figure. A special attention to enhance the most flattering part of one's body. Hence this dresses are slimming and definitely figure flattering. The pleats are placed to enhance a waist and hide the bulges. If you are a fan of polka dots you will like this piece. I like how the dots starts small and gets bigger at the bottom.
See the lace details? Sexy but still appropriate for work and the color is tomato red, just gorgeous in person.
This is one of my favorite from the line. As Christy have mention that they work hard with their textile development. Spending a lot of time to create beautiful and one of kind techniques and prints.
Longer version of the dress. I love the ombre effect. The print is original to kay Unger and you will not see it anywhere else.
The Phoebe Couture offers a more youthful vibe with an edgier twist. Spring 2013 selections are vibrant and colorful.
Look at the detailing on this shift dress, it is pretty in person.
A special thanks to Christina Solermo, PR manager of the brand for the invite and Christly Carlisle Smith for the warm welcome that day. This ladies are truly nice..........
Lastly the attendees were treated to champagne and small bites all throughout the presentation and some sweet treats as a nice touch to end the day of fun at Neiman's and the Kay Unger experienced !
